At Castellabate there was the intersection between the Popilia and Via del Confine, a Republican era ancient road that marked Rimini north territory. At the crossroads a temple probably stood, which many marble architectural elements scattered in the area are related to. We also retain the structures of a "tumba" (fortified building) and a small bridge over the Rio Pircio, both dating back to the Malatestian era.

Castellabate is part of Route III - Via Popilia
